Retired Colonel Kriste Kibbey Etue Endorses Tom Leonard for Governor

Will Lead Law Enforcement Coalition for Campaign

DEWITT, MI — Tom Leonard, Republican candidate for Governor of Michigan, today announced that retired Colonel Kriste Kibbey Etue, the first woman to serve as Director of the Michigan State Police, has endorsed his candidacy and will serve as Chair of the Tom Leonard Law Enforcement Coalition.

Colonel Etue brings more than three decades of frontline experience and executive leadership in law enforcement, including eight years as the Director of the Michigan State Police. She is widely respected across Michigan for her integrity, professionalism, and deep commitment to public safety.

“I’ve worked with leaders at every level of government,” said Colonel Etue. “Tom Leonard is the kind of strong, principled leader we need in the Governor’s office. He understands that public safety is what makes it possible for people to live freely and build strong communities. I’m proud to endorse him and to lead his law enforcement coalition.”

Leonard praised Etue’s service and leadership, noting her appointment sends a strong signal to both law enforcement officers and Michigan families.

The Tom Leonard Law Enforcement Coalition will bring together current and retired law enforcement professionals from across Michigan to advise the campaign on public safety priorities and to help engage voters on issues such as crime prevention, drug enforcement, police recruitment, and restoring respect for the badge.
