Leonard Kicks Off Agriculture Week with Farm Tours Across the State, Planned Visits to County Fairs

DEWITT, MI — Tom Leonard, Republican candidate for Governor, today announced a two weeklong focus on safeguarding farmers and farmland. This statewide celebration highlights Michigan’s second-largest industry.
“Michigan agriculture is more than just our roots, it’s our future,” said Leonard. “From family farms in Sanilac to dairy producers in Central Michigan, our agricultural sector feeds families, drives exports, and is the lifeblood of rural communities.”
Michigan agriculture supports nearly 1 million jobs and contributes more than $125 billion to the state’s economy every year. Leonard says his administration will focus on providing greater flexibility to the Michigan Merit Curriculum, improving rural infrastructure, and defending farmland from bureaucratic overreach.
“Agriculture is the backbone of Michigan’s economy and way of life,” said Leonard. “Michigan’s next governor must safeguard farmers from burdensome regulations that will force them out of the industry, and ensure farming remains profitable.
I’m running for governor to make sure Lansing fights for our farmers, not against them.”
